I had a tenant call today to ask for a quote for cleaning a Living room and hallway.

They were already out of the property and I suggested it would be between $80 and $100 depending on how heavily soiled it was.

After chatting for a while, he told me his landlord was going to get it cleaned and for him not to bother. He asked the Landlord (a private individual) how much would come off his damage deposit and he was told $850.00. I could not believe it. Obviously this Landlord never intended to pay back any of the damage deposit.

Just goes to show you need to be really careful about who it is you are dealing with. We booked his cleaning but I doubt that will be the end of it.
